Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Bobby and Phil's hair

This may be a silly post, but I have noticed that Bobby's hair started getting very thin right around 1999/2000 and he has that bald spot in the back, but the front has remained virtually unchanged since then which is not the way male pattern baldness normally occurs. Do you think he has the ol' hairplugs or restoration surgery? Phil on the other hand has the greatest set of hair I've ever seen on a man pushing 70. Could it be a rug or great genetics? In any case, they're both great musicians and I always love the Dead.

Bobby's short shorts cut off blood flow starting around '84 which lead to later hair loss. That or the dry cleaning for his lavender polo shirts.

Weir took the hair from the back of his head to paste on the civil war beard that currently resides on his face.

In all honesty a fellow forumite came up with "civil war beard" a while back. I thought that was the funniest thing. Colonial Weir

The bald spot? That's where he writes the set lists

Or, perhaps

It's bald from being rubbed for good luck - prior to assaulting the unfortunate few who remain unaware and unprepared for his patented "0 for 12" slide technique.

Nobody took up Phil's situation?

Well, I would argue for genetics...as one that suffers from baldness myself (I could care less...it has been EASIER and EASIER to take care of...seriously...I MEAN it, okay? My current hair "do" is what most friends describe as follows: "oh, I see you're sporting the 'Die Hard, # 27' Bruce Willis haircut! Very cool!"

I have been using the #1 (try it) setting on the old clippers. I can do my entire head with one simple setting, and then a razor to clean up the rest. Save on time and $ with the barber too!

There, did you ever imagine this thread would morph into a detailed description of my personal hygiene? There you have it, Dire--do be careful while looking in that mirror (last time I saw you, there was quite alot of hair around those beady little eyes).

Thank God this thread was not about teeth. Last thing we needed was a blow by blow of how you floss. It may leave the masses with a perception of weakness in their PM and next thing you know will have a coup on our hands.

Excellent point, V! And to be honest, I love the Bruce Willis comparison...Miss D as Demi? Well, not if she goes for the kid with hair instead (not sure if we have any real "kids" here at the Forum though...did anyone sign in as < 25 yrs old?).

That might be a problem then.... ;)

Nah, as long as someone has a smile and a stack of GD tapes, their hair length doesn't matter....

male patterns balness starts WAY earlier than your 50's. Weirs thing is typical for some men that age. I work with some guys who thinned in the same spot.

weir's baldness came from scratching his head too much in conniving the manner in which best to steal Jer's toilet seat.
